As Co‑Chairs of Creative Taranaki, we are incredibly proud of how far our region’s cultural sector has come - and excited about where we’re heading together.

 

Creative Taranaki was founded as a response to the Taranaki 2050 Roadmap, with a mandate to uplift arts, culture and creativity in our rohe — building the connections, capability and advocacy that our diverse creative community told us they needed most. From the very beginning, our journey has been shaped by you: the artists, musicians, writers, performers, makers, storytellers and visionaries who bring Taranaki to life every single day. 

 

We’ve listened closely through hui, workshops, mapping, and countless kanohi ki te kanohi moments to understand what helps creatives prosper. What we’ve learned is that creativity flourishes when people feel seen, supported, and connected. That’s why our mahi focuses on capability building, practical opportunities, and bringing creatives together across disciplines and our district. Our Theory of Change reinforces this direction: a connected ecosystem where practitioners feel supported, informed, and able to unlock resources, refine their craft, and navigate opportunities with confidence. 

 

At the heart of everything we do is a shared aspiration: Creativity. Everyday. Everywhere. Everyone.

We want a region where creativity is woven through daily life — where every practitioner feels seen, valued, and empowered, and where Taranaki is recognised nationally as a thriving creative rohe. Together with our partners, we’re committed to nurturing a vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates the full breadth of creative expression and ensures that every person, in every place, has the opportunity to participate in and shape our shared creative future.
