where it all began
Creative Taranaki was established in response to a shared vision from artists, creative practitioners and community leaders across the region.
Conversations through the Venture Taranaki 2050 Roadmap, together with extensive community consultation and research, identified the need for a dedicated organisation to connect, support and champion Taranaki's creative sector.
The research highlighted several key priorities: stronger advocacy, greater collaboration, improved access to professional development, and better pathways to funding, commercial opportunities and shared resources.
Today, Creative Taranaki continues to bring those aspirations to life by connecting people, building capability and championing creativity across the region.
How Creative Taranaki was formed
Creative Taranaki was built through the collective efforts of passionate volunteers, artists, organisations and community leaders who recognised the need for a stronger voice for the creative sector.
Establishing a regional arts organisation required careful planning, strong governance and collaboration. From developing the Trust and governance framework to building partnerships and organisational systems, every step laid the foundation for a sustainable organisation that could support the creative community for years to come.
With those foundations in place, Creative Taranaki has shifted its focus from establishment to action.
Today, our work centres on connecting creatives, delivering workshops, promoting opportunities, advocating for the sector and supporting a thriving creative community across Taranaki.
