Music
Folk @ The Fitz is the current incarnation of New Plymouth Folk & Acoustic Music Club. The name comes from our ongoing relationship with The Fitz, at 601 Devon Street East, Fitzroy, New Plymouth, which has been our regular venue since 2018.
Our setup is entirely acoustic – i.e. we have no PA system. But we’re not purists, so if you need to bring a small bass amp, for example, nobody will be shouting “Judas!” - except maybe in jest...
We meet twice a month, on the second and fourth Sunday afternoons, between 3pm and 5pm.
WHITEBOARD CONCERT – 2nd Sunday of the month
The second Sunday event is a whiteboard concert, where anyone can come along, put their name on the whiteboard and perform one or two songs. You can also just come along to listen. Entry is free.
GUEST PERFORMANCE – 4th Sunday of the month
On the fourth Sunday of the month, we present a concert by an invited artist or group. Our format for these concerts is that the first half features three or four invited floor singers from within the club. There is then a short break before the guests perform the entire second half from 4pm. We pay our guests a performance fee, so we charge an entry fee of $10 at the door to cover this.
If you’d like to be considered for a guest spot, contact us at the email address on this page, with a description of your act and links to audio and/or video examples of your work.
